What is Build Your Own Narratives?
With Build Your Own Narrative you can manually build a Narratives by adding or removing cards within the Build Your Own Narratives canvas. This feature allows for more control over the structure of your analysis and hone in on the answers to your exact business question.
Topic Card Library
Within the canvas you'll be able to build a Narrative by adding and removing topic cards. This provides more control over the structure of your analysis by selecting up to 12 topic cards that best fit your needs. Topic cards from Numerator Templates that already exist will be available as well as several other topic cards you can choose from.
Before a Narrative is run topic cards will appear in a draft state that allows you to preview structure of each card. This preview allows you to confirm what cards are included, what that card intends to show, and make any changes before generating your Narrative.
Some topic cards will have variant options. For example, one variant may break out data by channel while another variant will break data out by retailer. Topic cards with variants will be shown as one topic card in the library, but users will be prompted to configure the card when it is added. You may also edit this configuration later on the canvas.

Using Templates
When building a Narrative you can save templates that can be reused later as well as shared across your organization. Templates allow teams to create proven Narrative structures to use whenever needed rather than rebuilding a workflow each time you want to run a custom Narrative.
The Template Library contains both Numerator created templates (e.g. Brand Defense) and user-created templates. This means you can use cards from templates you're already familiar with by selecting Numerator Templates or start from scratch in the Topic Card Library. Mix and match your cards however you see fit to create a Narrative that fits your business question.
You can update your templates by clicking the "save as template" button on the canvas and choosing "update existing template" which will overwrite your existing template rather than creating a new template.
